There Are Many
Ways to Help

School breakfast programs are vital to happy tummies. Many are struggling to keep up with demand. Donate at your local participating grocery store during their campaign (details below) or donate online.

About Make Happy Tummies™

Make Happy Tummies is enabled by community partners, including Freson Bros., restaurants, individual donors, and organizations who come together to fundraise for local breakfast programs through an annual grocery store campaign and local initiatives.

100% of donations raised through Make Happy Tummies make their way to local stigma-free breakfast programs managed by our partners Student Nutrition Ontario and Breakfast Club of Canada.

It’s important to our Make Happy Tummies partners to actively support the communities in which we operate. This includes supporting local breakfast programs and hungry children.

As we start the new year, the reality is that 1 in 3 children is at risk of attending school on an empty stomach.*

Freson Bros. is a partner in the first Make Happy Tummies campaign (formerly Toonies for Tummies). Alongside many brands in their stores, we are working to ensure that 100% of every donation goes to local children and breakfast programs at local schools.

Last year, alongside our generous shoppers and with our match donation days, Freson Bros. raised over $42,124, providing more than 20,000 healthy meals to local children.

This year, the community of sponsor brands supporting Make Happy Tummies has grown. You can see them in Freson Bros.’ flyer and in-store. With your support, ours and theirs, we hope to continue to build meaningful and impactful relationships within Freson Bros.’ communities. Watch for their campaign in-store April 4 – April 17 where you can donate.

Enter your postal code on our donation tracker to see the over 3,000+ programs that benefit from generous donations today, including in our local communities**.

Thank you to our Sponsor Partners

Our campaign sponsors generously support Make Happy Tummies, helping nourish children and sustain school nutrition programs. Their commitment ensures 100% of shopper donations benefit local programs. Look for them in-store.

Frequently Asked Questions

How much of my donation goes towards student nutrition/breakfast programs?
100% of proceeds raised from Make Happy Tummies benefit student nutrition programs in local communities in the vicinity of the stores where donations are made OR in the province where the donation is made when made online. Donations benefit Student Nutrition Ontario (SNO) in Ontario or Breakfast Club of Canada in Western Canada, Quebec, and Atlantic Canada.

We work with our student nutrition partners, to identify eligible school-based student nutrition programs. These programs benefit from donations made in-store and online once the campaign ends.

The Donation Tracker includes the programs that benefit currently. Once our annual fundraising campaign concludes, we distribute donations to schools that have been identified / partnered with stores. This tracker and the schools found there are continuously being updated.

Many of our grocery store partners offer options to make donations of a toonie and several other donation options, including in some cases open donations.  The Foundation accepts donations of $5 or more online which are eligible for a tax receipt.

We do not publish school names for privacy reasons.

No. But rest assured donations that are made in store will remain in the local community in the vicinity of the grocery store where the donation is made. For donations made online, we will make every best effort to have those donations benefit student nutrition programs in the region. For certain, donations made online will remain in the province associated with the online donation.

The criteria are determined by the organizations that administer the programs and is based on nutrition guidelines set by each respective province.
